Canning
One of the most social and fun ways to raise money is canning. Our dancers “can” by asking for donations of spare change all over the city. Canning raises money for your personal fundraising goal, or a friends, and also helps spread the word about DemonTHON. You should be loud, energetic and positive. The more people you ask, the more donations you will receive, so don’t be shy. Sign-up here. Don’t feel obligated to go canning if it makes you uncomfortable. We have many ways for you to fundraise - canning is just one!
Canning Events
Fundraising Nights Canning
During every Fundraising Nights you can go Late Night Canning! During Late Night Canning most people ask donations from giving and generous people in Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville, the Gold Coast or Boys Town. In the past, individuals have raised anywhere from $10-$200 in just a couple hours canning.
Special Events Canning
If you prefer daytime fundraising, look into our special events canning days. These canning events are usually scheduled around popular Chicago events like Cubs and Blackhawk games. We also do grocery store canning.
Make Your Own Canning Event
Do you enjoy Sporting Events? Walking around Michigan Ave? Think a particular Chicago event would be great to can at? Create your own canning event with your team or some friends. Email our Fundraising Director at demonthon.fundraising@gmail.com to schedule an event.
Why go canning?
1. It's fun!
Canning is one of the most exciting and fun ways to fundraise for DemonTHON. Chicago is a city full of interesting people, and you will meet many on your canning adventures. Even if the weather conditions aren’t ideal, you will have a great time bonding with your teammates and raising money FTK! Feel free to dress up, make up a song to sing while soliciting, be silly, but always stay with a buddy and be smart!
2. You can spread the word about DemonTHON to others
When you’re standing on the sidewalk asking people for donations for DemonTHON, there will most likely be someone who passes that has never heard of DemonTHON. They will ask what DemonTHON is and when you spread the FTK spirit you will feel WONDERFUL!
3. It's a great way to get to know people
Ask anyone who has been canning with their team, organization, or friends and they will likely say it was a great bonding experience. Relationships built during DemonTHON and it’s fundraising events are relationships that last a lifetime.
4. Most importantly, you'll be making a difference in the life of a child
When it comes down to it, regardless of how well your canning goes, you're making a difference in the life of a child. Whether you raised $10 or $100 you are helping ease the financial burden for patients and their families at Lurie Children’s Hospital and allowing them to have exceptional care. Every penny counts!
